IN2TEC Magnetic rotary switch ThinCoderRT

  The thiNcoder Rotor operates when a user turns the rotary knob. When the knob   twists, the magnet within the rotor housing causes the gold-plated balls to roll along   the circuit. As the balls roll, they move either into or out of contact with the circuit   pads thus opening or closing a pair of switch contacts.

This technology is protected by several US and international patents including U.S. Patent Nos. 5,666,096 & 6,305,071 and others.
